Machame Gate est l'une des portes d'entrée du parc national du mont Kilimandjaro.
C'est également l'emplacement de plusieurs bureaux des autorités du parc (TANAPA - Autorités du parc national de Tanzanie) et un point de départ administratif pour tous les randonneurs empruntant la route de trekking Machame jusqu'au sommet.
Vous devez vous inscrire pour entrer dans le parc et payer le droit d'entrée.
La région reçoit beaucoup de pluie tout au long de l'année. Il y a quelques hôtels à proximité où vous pouvez rester pour l'ascension.
