La statua fu inaugurata nel 1926, anno della morte del professore, e si trova nel cortile dell'Istituto in Plaza de Guillermo Rances.
Adolfo Cabrera Pinto visse dal 1855 al 1926. Nella località di La Laguna, Tenerife, fu nominato direttore dell'Istituto Generale e Tecnico della Provincia di Santa Cruz de Tenerife, dove svolse per più di vent'anni un'enorme opera educativa.
Ma soprattutto, con Regio Decreto dell'11 aprile 1913, riuscì a includere l' Università di La Laguna nel progetto di organizzazione amministrativa dell'Arcipelago. Oltre ad essere un professore, fu un grande e importante giornalista, direttore di El Populair e collaboratore di molti altri giornali.
