La malga Laponesalm si trova in una conca idilliaca: nella valle Gschnitztal posteriore. Sull'ampia terrazza soleggiata lo stupendo panorama sul mondo alpino circostante si combina con i piaceri del palato. Tutt'intorno si distribuiscono sui 320 ettari della malga ampi prati con le graziose antiche baite. La malga Laponesalm è una meta popolare per le famiglie: la salita è facile e sul sentiero carrabile si può raggiungere la malga addirittua con i passeggini.
La salita parte dal grande parcheggio dietro il Gasthof Feuerstein, e porta fino alla malga lungo il ruscello Gschnitzerbach.
