Il nome lo rivela: nel sedicesimo secolo era la residenza del pittore Peter Paul Rubens. Ma questo edificio ha più storia di quella di una casa di pittore. Un tempo era addirittura una prigione. Nel 1937 la città acquistò la casa e la trasformò in museo. Così sono stati preservati due originali parti della casa di Rubens, il giardino e il portico.
Consiglio di Simon: La biglietteria è accessibile per persone in sedia a rotelle, ma con una sedia a rotelle manuale puoi visitare solo il piano terra del museo. I servizi igienici sono accessibili a tutti, ma non sempre molto pratici. Anche il giardino della casa di Rubens è accessibile, ma fai attenzione ai sampietrini. Se i sampietrini sono troppo difficili, fortunatamente hai sempre il sentiero di ghiaia per scoprire il giardino.
