Zichem è naturalmente molto noto come il villaggio in cui 'De Witte' eseguiva i suoi scherzi sui pastori. Si può visitare la casa natale di Ernest Claes, lo scrittore tra l'altro di De Witte di Zichem.
Tra le altre attrazioni di questa Oranjestad c'è la bella chiesa di Sint-Eustachius in stile Demergotik. Questa magnifica chiesa possiede probabilmente la vetrata più antica del Belgio (1387).
Sulle rive del Demer si può scoprire un monumento completamente diverso: le Maagdentoren. Questa unica rotonda donjon, costruita con la tipica arenaria rosso-bruna della regione, risale al XIV secolo. Questa torre serviva come torre residenziale e di difesa per i signori di Zichem.
