Il Museo della Storia della Scienza fa parte dell'Università di Gand ed è stato situato fino al 2018 nel Campus Sterre, in De Pintelaan a Gand. Successivamente la collezione è stata trasferita nel campus Ledeganck come parte del Museo Universitario di Gand.
Il museo è stato fondato nel 1948 dal professore Albert Van de Velde, come dipartimento del Museo di Archeologia. Nel 1964 l'università ha deciso di rilevare il museo; le collezioni sono state ospitate in Korte Meer. Nel 1994 il museo è stato trasferito nel edificio S30, un ex deposito militare, poiché la collezione era diventata troppo ampia.
