Westende è un villaggio e una località balneare nella provincia belga del Flanders Occidentale e una frazione di Middelkerke. Il centro di Westende si trova a poche centinaia di metri dalla costa; direttamente lungo la costa è nata la nuova area di Westende-Bad. Nel medioevo, Westende si trovava al punto occidentale dell'isola di Testerep. Il luogo è stato menzionato per la prima volta nel 1087. È diventata una parrocchia separata nel 1196. Fino al XIX secolo, la zona delle dune e della spiaggia a nord del villaggio era quasi disabitata. Questo è visibile sulle mappe di Ferraris del 1777, dove è raffigurato Westende. C'era un mulino a vento e alcune fattorie distanti tra loro.
