Questa cappella rotonda aveva originariamente una funzione strategica come torre di guardia. Questo spiega subito i due buchi di proiettile nelle facciate. Nel XVIII secolo la torre fu accorciata e trasformata in cappella. Comunemente era conosciuta come la 'Cappella Bianca'.
La cappellina è dedicata a Santa Apollonia. Questa santa visse nel III secolo. Fu perseguitata dai pagani perché era cristiana. Durante la sua persecuzione, le furono distrutti i denti. Perciò Apollonia è la patrona dei dentisti e un tempo la gente andava in pellegrinaggio soprattutto per dolori dentali.
