Middenvijver è l'area verde aperta più grande di Anversa. È una delle ultime parti di Linkeroever ad essere state elevate. A prima vista sembra un'enorme distesa di erba monotona, ma chi si prende il tempo di attraversare l'area scopre di più. Il terreno non è perfettamente pianeggiante ma presenta un microrelievo pronunciato con rialzi simili a dune. Soprattutto i bordi dell'area sono secchi e si sono sviluppati in un prato di erba di dune, dove si trova anche la rarefatta stella delle dune. Al centro c'è ancora una zona umida con prati e un bosco di salici e betulle.
