Il luogo di ormeggio si trova nel nord della provincia di Ostflandria e comprende un'area aperta di polder che si estende tra la Graaf Jansdijk e i centri abitati di Bentille e Sint-Laureins a sud, il confine statale con i Paesi Bassi a nord e il centro olandese di Sint-Kruis a ovest. I polder sono attraversati da una rete di dighe e alcuni grandi canali che a sud sono delimitati dalla cresta di sabbia coperta su cui si trova la Graaf Jansdijk. Al centro si trovano i nuclei abitati di Sint-Margriete e Sint-Jan-in-Eremo che si sono sviluppati lungo le strade principali e le dighe e hanno un carattere chiaramente lineare.
