Il villaggio è un borgo dell'ex comune di Mark, che in seguito divenne una municipalità del comune di Edingen. Abele ha come codice postale 7850 e appartiene all'arrondissement di Zinnik.
Una attrazione ad Abele è la chiesa di Santa Anna. Nel 1619 fu costruita una cappella in onore di Santa Anna. Questa cappella fu ampliata nel 1690 fino all'attuale coro. Abele ricevette nel 1786 un cappellano: Nicolas Joseph Paternostre. Con un decreto reale di Leopoldo II, la cappella divenne nel 1896 una chiesa ausiliaria e Abele una parrocchia autonoma rispetto a Mark. Il 23 maggio 1904 fu posta la prima pietra dell'attuale chiesa, che fu consacrata l'anno successivo. Dopo che un fulmine colpì il campanile, questo fu ricostruito nel 1980. In quella torre pende una campana di bronzo, Gertrude, che risale al 1619, all'inizio della cappella di Santa Anna.
