Il Lapscheurse Gat è un creek a sud di Sluis, creato a seguito dell'inondazione del 1583 come un braccio secondario dello Zwin. Il canale marino inizialmente si estendeva fino a Heille, ma nel 1591 anche lì si ruppe l'argine, a quel punto il canale penetrò ulteriormente nel territorio fino a 1,5 km oltre Middelburg. Così nacquero la Papenkreek e la Meulekreek. Un braccio secondario del Lapscheursche Gat, l'attuale Stierskreek, si estende e si estende fino a Aardenburg. Sul lato belga si trova ancora la Verloren Kreek, a est del villaggio di Sint-Rita.
