Nella Molenstraat, al ponte sul Mark, si trova il magnificamente restaurato Laermolen. Prima del 1381, in questo luogo c'era un mulino ad acqua che veniva chiamato 'Laermolen' ('Het Laer' = un prato paludoso e non edificato). Inizialmente si trattava solo di un mulino per i cereali. In seguito si parlò anche di un mulino di macinazione o mulino per l'olio per schiacciare semi oleosi. Nel corso degli anni, il mulino è stato distrutto e ricostruito più volte. Alcuni entusiasti di Hoogstraten, riuniti nella vzw De Laermolen, hanno riportato questo mulino al suo antico splendore tra il 2000 e il 2004. Anche la ruota idraulica gira di nuovo.
