Roetgen è un comune nello stato tedesco del Nord Reno-Westfalia, situato nella regione metropolitana di Aquisgrana. Roetgen conta 8.650 abitanti su una superficie di 39,02 km². Roetgen si trova al confine con il Belgio. Le parti più occidentali e meridionali di Roetgen sono tagliate fuori dal resto a causa della Vennbahn, che rientra in Belgio. A est dell'area a sud della Vennbahn fino a Lammersdorf si trova un ulteriore territorio con lo stesso status, di cui la Foresta di Roetgen costituisce la parte più grande. Questa area, a causa della situazione attorno alla Vennbahn, forma un'exclave della Germania, proprio come Münsterbildchen, l'area a ovest della Vennbahn.
