Bockelnhagen è un villaggio nel distretto di Eichsfeld, in Turingia. Dal 1° dicembre 2011, l'ex comune autonomo è diventato una frazione del comune rurale di Sonnenstein. Bockelnhagen è uno dei pochi villaggi nel distretto di Eichsfeld che non rientrano nell'Eichsfeld storico.
Bockelnhagen si trova nella valle dell'Eller di Weilrod, nel paesaggio delle colline di Silkerode, che è già considerato parte del Südharz. Il paese si trova a circa 17 chilometri a nord-est di Leinefelde-Worbis lungo la strada statale 1013, non lontano dall'ex confine interno tedesco e dall'attuale confine statale con la Bassa Sassonia. Il paesaggio collinare attorno al villaggio è caratterizzato da numerose montagne, tra cui il Wunderberg a est, l'Unterer Scherenberg a sud e il Schulenberg a ovest.
