Metzingen è una città media del Baden-Württemberg ai piedi delle Alpi Sveve vicino a Reutlingen. Fa parte della regione Neckar-Alb e della regione metropolitana europea di Stoccarda. È la seconda città più grande del circondario di Reutlingen dopo Reutlingen e costituisce un centro principale per i comuni circostanti all'interno della regione Neckar-Alb. Metzingen è conosciuta a livello regionale soprattutto per i numerosi "outlet". Dal 1° ottobre 1990, Metzingen è una Grande città circondariale. Metzingen è parte della riserva della biosfera delle Alpi Sveve con gran parte del suo territorio.
