Il luogo si trova in un triangolo tra Hannover, Braunschweig e Wolfsburg. La città distrettuale di Gifhorn dista circa dieci chilometri. Nel territorio comunale, a est del villaggio di Leiferde, si trova l'area protetta del paesaggio del Viehmoor.
La località di Leiferde si estende su una formazione di dune risalente all'era glaciale tra la valle dei fiumi Aller e Oker. Per questo motivo ci sono diverse piccole alture e zone paludose.
