Wietmarschen è un comune unico nel distretto della Contea di Bentheim in Bassa Sassonia. È particolarmente conosciuto per il luogo di pellegrinaggio di Wietmarschen grazie alla statua della Madonna nella chiesa di pellegrinaggio di San Giovanni Apostolo e alla storica area del capitolo.
Wietmarschen si trova nel triangolo urbano tra Nordhorn, Lingen e Meppen. La vetta più alta del comune è il Rupingberg a Lohne con 50 m s.l.m. con una torre panoramica in fase di progettazione. Questa torre panoramica avrà un aspetto simile a quella sul Isterberg presso Bad Bentheim.
