Il Nürburgring ad Adenau è un circuito noto soprattutto grazie alla Formula 1, che ogni anno si ferma lì per il Gran Premio d'Europa. In passato il percorso portava i piloti per 22 km, lungo 172 curve attraverso le foreste di pini (il Nürburgring Nordschleife). Ma da quando il famoso pilota austriaco Niki Lauda ha avuto un incidente grave (quasi mortale), 'L'Inferno Verde', come veniva chiamato questo circuito, non è più utilizzato per le gare di F1.
