Wendeburg si trova direttamente al margine nordoccidentale della città di Braunschweig. L'aspetto del paese è caratterizzato dall'agricoltura. Negli ultimi anni sono sorti nuovi quartieri in tutte le frazioni. Tuttavia, le strutture tradizionali sono rimaste intatte, tanto che si può parlare di un'“idillio nel verde” con un'alta qualità della vita. A Wendeburg si trova anche una piscina all'aperto, l'Auebad, oltre a un grande centro commerciale.
L'Aue e l'Erse attraversano il territorio comunale da sud a nord, ed è simboleggiata da una striscia d'oro alla base dello stemma comunale.
