Aue è un comune di 16614 abitanti del libero stato della Sassonia, Germania, nel circondario dei Monti Metalliferi. Aue si fregia del titolo di "Grande città circondariale" .
Aue fu per la prima volta menzionata in un documento del 1173 come Owe, che significa "il prato" alla confluenza del Schwarzwasser e del Zwickauer Mulde. Uno degli edifici più antichi di Aue è la chiesa dell'ex monastero Klösterlein Zelle. Costruito nel Medioevo, il Klösterlein Zelle fu in gran parte smantellato durante il periodo industriale.
