La chiesa parrocchiale romana-cattolica di Santa Caterina è un simbolo della città titolare di Blankenberg presso Hennef.
L'inizio della costruzione può essere datato al 1245; quell'anno, in cui furono concessi i diritti di città a Blankenberg, il conte Heinrich III di Sayn e sua moglie, la contessa Mechthild di Meißen-Landsberg, fondarono un monastero di premostratensi all'interno delle mura cittadine, che però fu presto occupato da cistercensi. La chiesa del monastero fu elevata, probabilmente al termine della sua costruzione, a chiesa parrocchiale indipendente nel 1248. Il monastero fu trasferito a Zissendorf nel 1265, mentre il diritto di collazione sulla chiesa parrocchiale rimase fino al XVI secolo all'abbadessa.
