Si sospetta che nel terreno di un antico castello sia stata eretta una corte monastica. Si conosce una torre e un'area fortificata, la cui data di costruzione è sconosciuta.
Come costruttori sono probabilmente considerati solo i superiori del monastero, i conti di Sulzbach nell'XI secolo o all'inizio del XII secolo, e gli Staufer nella tarda XII secolo o all'inizio del XIII secolo. Dopo il 1504, i signori di Norimberga ordinavano la demolizione. Le pietre della torre furono utilizzate per il rivestimento del fossato.
