La rovine del castello medievale di Nanstein, situato sopra la città di Landstuhl nella regione della Renania-Palatinato, risalgono al XII secolo. La sua attuale notorietà è dovuta a un proprietario successivo, il ribelle cavaliere Franz von Sickingen, che trovò la morte nel 1523 durante l'assedio e il bombardamento del castello.
