Il Gelster è un fiume lungo 17,5 km, affluente sinistro o sud-occidentale della Werra, nel circondario di Werra-Meißner, nel nord-est dell'Assia, in Germania.
Il Gelster, che è uno dei più grandi affluenti della Werra nel territorio dell'Assia e scorre interamente nel Geo-Naturpark Frau-Holle-Land, ha origine sul versante nord del Hirschberg, che si erge a sud-ovest di Großalmerode come la montagna più alta del Kaufunger Wald. La sorgente si trova su un'altezza paludosa di circa 470-480 m sul Pfaffenberg, un rilievo settentrionale dell'Hirschberg vicino alla strada federale 451 a circa 455 m.
