Il lago Elbsee è un lago artificiale creato mediante l'escavazione di ghiaia a Düsseldorf-Unterbach, al confine con Hilden.
Dopo il completamento dei lavori di estrazione della ghiaia nel 2006 e la rimozione di alcune dighe da parte della cava, la superficie attuale del lago è di circa 89 ha con una profondità massima di 22 m. Il lago non ha affluenti o deflussi superficiali ed è alimentato da acque sotterranee. Grandi parti della riva del lago non sono ufficialmente accessibili, il che consente una flora e fauna molto variegate. La vista sul lago è consentita solo da pochi punti dei sentieri circostanti.
