Il RheinRuhrZentrum, alla sua apertura nel 1973, era uno dei primi centri commerciali coperti della Germania. Si trova a est di Mülheim an der Ruhr, al confine con Essen, e oggi dispone di circa 79.000 metri quadrati di superficie di vendita.
Il terreno di 200.000 metri quadrati è stato utilizzato fino al 1929 dalla miniera Humboldt del Mülheimer Bergwerks-Verein. Successivamente è stato utilizzato come impianto di movimentazione del carbone.
