La pietra arenaria dell'Odenwald, nota anche come arenaria multicolore dell'Odenwald, è la principale roccia della regione dell'Odenwald inHessen. Si tratta di una arenaria di color rosso pallido a Rosso tenue dell'Arenaria inferiore.
La zona orientale e sud-orientale dell'Odenwald è principalmente composta da sabbie, argille e marne, depositate circa 250 milioni di anni fa nell'Arenaria inferiore in un paesaggio fluviale e lacustre. All'epoca prevaleva un clima secco con grandi sistemi fluviali che trasportavano detriti rocciosi ma che si asciugavano frequentemente. Così si formò un bacino sedimentario in cui si depositò sabbia, che nel corso del tempo si compattò e si cementò per formare arenaria.
