L'ex-Sophienheilstätte per tubercolotici a Monaco era un ex sanatorio polmonare vicino a Bad Berka in Turingia. L'edificio, situato idilliacamente nella foresta, fu costruito nel 1898 ed è rimasto vuoto dal 1994.
La clinica fu fondata il 14 ottobre 1898 con il supporto della famiglia granducale di Sassonia-Weimar-Eisenach in un'area boschiva sopra Monaco, oggi una frazione di Bad Berka. Fu chiamata in onore della granduchessa Sophie von Oranien-Nassau, morta poco prima. Inizialmente, la struttura serviva come centro di cura per pazienti affetti da tubercolosi. Fino al 1911, il numero dei letti aumentò a 200. Dal 1924 iniziò la trasformazione del sanatorio in una struttura clinica, per poter adottare nuovi metodi di trattamento e interventi chirurgici adeguati per i malati polmonari. A tal fine furono create nuove stanze per i trattamenti, furono costruiti laboratori e furono acquisiti apparecchi radiografici.
