Il Rakotzsee è un lago artificiale creato tra il 1842 e il 1875 nel parco delle azalee e dei rododendri di Kromlau e si trova nella frazione di Kromlau del comune di Gablenz nel distretto di Görlitz. È lungo circa 300 m e largo circa 35-50 m. Al centro, il lago è sovrastato dal ponte Rakotz lungo 35 m. Sempre al centro del lago si trova un gruppo di colonne di basalto, chiamato "Organo". L'ensemble è considerato esemplare per l'architettura dei giardini del Romanticismo.
Poiché il lago non ha un afflusso naturale, il suo livello d'acqua è mantenuto mediante una pompa. Ci sono considerazioni per alimentarlo con un corso d'acqua naturale.
