Il villaggio fu colpito nel 1512 dalla epidemia di peste, dopo di che tutti gli abitanti sopravvissuti fuggirono. L'ultimo abitante a lasciare il posto fu il parroco nel 1562, quando si trasferì a Schalkenmehren. Ora rimane solo la chiesa restaurata di San Martino, molto idilliaca, con un cimitero attorno.
