Per cinque anni in due città: Osnabrück e Münster fu negoziato il Trattato di pace della Westfalia (1648). I deputati si sono incontrati lì, ma anche lungo la strada tra le due città. A metà strada verso il villaggio di Lengerich si trovava un importante punto d'incontro. Nel 1645 i deputati del Sacro Romano Impero decisero qui che tutte le città libere e le classi dell'impero avrebbero dovuto partecipare ai negoziati: il "Lengericher Conclusum". Vicino alla chiesa dove venne formulata la delibera, a questo evento è dedicato un monumento. È stato creato dall'artista di Osnabrücker Volker Johannes Trieb.
