Questo imponente monumento in memoria dei Sinti e dei Rom deportati durante il regime nazionalsocialista , progettato dall'artista Clas Steinmann , è stato inaugurato il 10 settembre 2012 .
Il monumento è costituito da sei stele in bronzo con patina turchese, disposte in linea retta a un metro di distanza l'una dall'altra . Questa disposizione invita i visitatori a passeggiare tra le stele, creando un momento di contemplazione e riflessione.
Durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, innumerevoli Sinti e Rom di Treviri e dintorni furono deportati attraverso un campo di raccolta a Colonia verso ghetti e campi di concentramento nell'Europa orientale . Il monumento commemora queste vittime e funge da duraturo ricordo delle atrocità commesse sotto il regime nazionalsocialista.
