Questo sentiero si snoda quasi esclusivamente su strade solide e ben percorribili attraverso la foresta e in gran parte lungo il "Ahornweg" extraurbano. Il percorso attraversa il Limberg e porta al "Zeppelinstein", dove il 28 giugno 1910 il dirigibile "Deutschland" atterrò tra gli alberi. Inizialmente, il dirigibile era partito da Düsseldorf per il suo volo inaugurale, che avrebbe dovuto attraversare l'area del Reno-Maiorca. Tuttavia, un bollettino meteorologico avverso portò a un cambio di rotta verso la Foresta Teutoburgica, dove il Zeppelin si arenò comunque tra forti piogge, grandine e neve - a giugno! - tra le cime degli alberi. Fortunatamente, solo un passeggero rimase ferito. Il "Zeppelinstein" ricorda questo evento.
