Furono fondati il 18 luglio 1964, con Jesús Aparicio-Bernal Sánchez come Direttore generale della Radiodiffusione e della Televisione, per sostituire la precedente sede della TVE, situata al Paseo de la Habana di Madrid, e inaugurata da Francisco Franco. Il suo Studio 1 aveva una superficie di 1.200 metri quadrati, il che lo rendeva uno dei set più grandi del mondo dell'epoca. Dal 1965, ospitò anche la produzione della Seconda Rete. Nel 1971 la sede centrale di Radio Nazionale di Spagna si trasferì lì, in una dipendenza annessa all'edificio principale che fu denominata Casa della radio.
