Il fiume nasce a ovest della Serra del Caíllo, a circa 920 metri sul livello del mare , nel comune di Benaocaz.

La parte superiore si chiama 'Arroyo Seco' . Il suo nome cambia in "Rio Ubrique" passando per Ubrique.

Il fiume divide la città in 2 parti: la parte vecchia (est) e la parte nuova (ovest).

Il fiume Ubrique è un affluente del fiume Majaceite che attraversa la provincia di Cadice e ha una lunghezza di circa 10 km.

Il fiume Ubrique ha causato inondazioni in diverse occasioni. È nella categoria con i maggiori danni da possibili allagamenti , che ha portato alla proposta di misure di emergenza.
