Il Col d'Aubisque è apparso nel Tour de France nel 1910, attraversato da François Lafourcade. È apparso frequentemente da allora, più di una volta ogni due anni. È stato incluso per insistenza di Alphone Steinès, un collega di Henri Desgrange al Tour de France. Steinès ha visitato l'uomo responsabile delle strade locali, l'ingénieur des ponts-et-chaussées, che ha detto: "Portare i corridori su per l'Aubisque? Siete completamente pazzi a Parigi."
