Fu costruito a partire dal 1878 dallo Stato su terreni acquistati dal Comune e da privati. È stato completato nel 1890. Contiene le ossa di circa 3.000 soldati francesi e tedeschi. In base a un accordo del 1° marzo 1951 tra il Ministero degli Affari dei Veterani (Graves Bureau) e il Comitato, quest'ultimo è responsabile dei costi (costosi) di manutenzione. La terrazza è stata completamente rifatta nel 1999 e può essere visitata chiedendo al custode della casa.
