L'assedio di Budapest fu una sanguinoso e prolungato scontro combattuto tra l'Armata rossa e la Wehrmacht tedesca, supportata dai suoi alleati ungheresi, durante la seconda guerra mondiale sul Fronte orientale per il possesso della capitale magiara. Il violentissimo combattimento finale tra le forze tedesco-ungheresi rimaste accerchiate a Budapest dal 26 dicembre 1944 e le truppe d'assalto sovietiche giunse al termine di una serie di offensive lanciate dall'Armata rossa in Ungheria a partire dal 29 ottobre 1944, che provocarono aspri e ripetuti scontri contro le riserve corazzate tedesche tenacemente decise, secondo le direttive di Hitler, ad impedire una vittoria sovietica.
Le operazioni si conclusero il 13 febbraio del 1945 con la distruzione di gran parte dei reparti accerchiati e la resa delle residue forze tedesche a Budapest, quando ormai gran parte del territorio ungherese era in mano sovietica.
