Tra i più importanti centri della valle Stura, ubicato a nord-ovest di Genova, Masone fa parte del Parco naturale regionale del Beigua.
Si trova sul versante settentrionale dello spartiacque appenninico, che in questa zona passa molto vicino alla costa ligure. La località Cappelletta di Masone si trova quasi all'altezza del crinale divisorio, verso il Bric del Dente . Attraverso il valico del passo del Turchino , lungo la strada statale 456 del Turchino, è possibile il collegamento con Mele e quindi con il quartiere genovese di Voltri.
