Tipico borgo marinaro, centro turistico noto per il suo porticciolo e per i palazzi variopinti sul lungomare. È anche chiamata storicamente la "città dei mille bianchi velieri".
Il centro della città di Camogli che occupa la vallata a ponente del monte di Portofino si affaccia sul Golfo Paradiso, all'estremità occidentale del promontorio portofinese, nella riviera di levante, ad est di Genova. Appartiene a Camogli la parte più ampia del parco naturale regionale di Portofino, mentre lo specchio acqueo antistante il promontorio fa parte dell'Area naturale marina protetta Portofino.
