Carloforte è un comune italiano di 5 926 abitanti della provincia del Sud Sardegna.Il territorio comunale comprende l'isola di San Pietro nella sua interezza e alcune isole minori che la circondano, al largo della sub-regione del Sulcis-Iglesiente, in Sardegna; l'isola è situata a circa 10 km dalla costa sudoccidentale sarda e costituisce, insieme alla vicina isola di Sant'Antioco e ad altri isolotti e scogli vicini alle sunnominate due isole, l'arcipelago del Sulcis. Carloforte è stato anche un comune onorario dell'ex provincia di Genova e fa parte del circuito dei "I borghi più belli d'Italia".
