Rignano sull'Arno è un comune italiano di 8 530 abitanti della città metropolitana di Firenze in Toscana.
Il toponimo Rignano trae il nome da un appezzamento agricolo situato, con buona probabilità, nell'area dove in seguito verrà costruita la Pieve di San Leolino. Il nome di Rignano, infatti, ha seguito nella sua storia lo sviluppo del paese: dapprima legato alla Pieve, passò poi successivamente al Castello e al ponte sull'Arno.
