L'isola di Garda, originariamente Monastero Longobardo connesso a Brescia, della regina Ansa, era detta anche Schwaben, conosciuta anche come isola di Svevia di Federico I Hohenstaufen detto Barbarossa, poi Borghese o isola dei Frati, è la più grande isola del lago omonimo.
Distante poco più di 200 metri da Capo San Fermo, promontorio che divide il golfo di Salò dalla baia dello Smeraldo, misura all'incirca un chilometro di lunghezza ed è larga in media 60 metri.
