La Basilica Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta è il principale luogo di culto cattolico di Padova e sede vescovile della diocesi omonima almeno dal IV secolo.
Dedicata all'Assunzione di Maria ha la dignità di basilica minore ed è inoltre sede parrocchiale. Al suo interno si venerano i corpi di san Daniele, san Leonino e di san Gregorio Barbarigo. L'edificio attuale risale al XVI secolo e alla sua costruzione intervenne Michelangelo Buonarroti. Si affaccia su piazza Duomo. Accanto si innalza il complesso del Vescovado.
