La Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana possiede il particolare Planisfero Salviati. Si tratta di una mappa del mondo che mostra la visione spagnola della Terra nel 1525. Include le coste orientali del Nord e del Sud America e lo Stretto di Magellano. Invece di includere materiali immaginari in aree inesplorate, come di consueto, in questa mappa si è scelto di lasciare volontariamente quelle aree vuote, invitando a future esplorazioni. Era una mappa chiara con l'idea "Non lo sappiamo". Come dice l'autore Yuval Noah Harari nel suo libro Sapiens: "Invita lo spettatore a partire e a scoprirlo".
