Porto Torres è un comune italiano di 21 231 abitanti della rete metropolitana del nord Sardegna, della provincia di Sassari e del consorzio industriale provinciale.
Fondata dai romani nel I secolo a.C sulla foce del Riu Mannu, fu la prima colonia romana dell'isola. Antica capitale del Giudicato di Torres-Logudoro con il nome di Torres, fu di grande prestigio nel contesto sardo per molti secoli in particolare per la presenza del suo porto.
