Pal lungo il Geul si trova il Castello di Den Halder. È una torre residenziale fortificata che all'epoca si trovava contro le mura medievali della città. L'origine della torre risale quindi al XIV secolo, quando Dirk IV di Valkenburg iniziò la ricostruzione delle mura cittadine.
In seguito fu trasformata in una torre residenziale, il che significava che venne aggiunto un piano e furono aggiunte torri angolari. Una parte della tenuta originale è ora adibita a parco cittadino.
