Sopra i portici che collegano Praça de S. Tiago con Largo da Oliveira si trova il Municipio Vecchio.
Questo edificio ospitava gli uomini che governavano la città. La costruzione iniziò nel XIV secolo e durò fino alla metà del XV secolo, quando regnò il re Afonso V. Afonso V regnò. Tra il XVI e il XVIII secolo, l'edificio subì diverse modifiche e ristrutturazioni. Successivamente, nel 1877, sulla facciata fu posta una statua di un guerriero proveniente dall'antico edificio della dogana. Secondo la tradizione, questo guerriero simboleggia il duplice contributo del popolo di Guimarães alle conquiste dell'Africa.
