Wolvenberg en Brilschanspark zijn bijna de enige plekken in het landschap van de Groene Bedding waar de historische structuur van de omwalling nog herkenbaar is. In het Brilschanspark is nog een authentiek deel van de vestinggracht aanwezig onder de vorm van een haakvormige vijver, die ooit de gracht van een ravelijn was. De Brilschans zelf werd in het begin van de 20e eeuw al afgebroken. Pas in 1963 werd beslist om het gebied om te vormen tot een publiek park.
